I run twin Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX in SLi Mode, my Advice is get what you can afford, you could buy the very latest G/c out there, and by the time you've got it home and installed it it will have been superseded btw I am impressed with my 880gtx's ;D

My specs arent really interesting since i have a notebook, but anyway, i use a nvidia 8800GT 512mb which does its job. I can run cod4 on best settings with a smooth experience, crysis though runs best on medium specs.
what are your current pc specs? important to know whats the rest for optimal usage of a gfx card.

I would suggest waiting for the 4870 X2 if you can afford it. It will be the fastest GPU available.
If not Geforce 280 are good too but still pricey,
260 geforce i would rather have a single 4870, they are cheaper and preform within 10-15% of the 280.
As Anc says buy what you can afford, if money is not issue then get the most expensive, i.e 4870 X2.
Also pick a good brand, if its a Geforce card you go for get a BFG version, they offer 10 year warranties on most of their kit, as for ATI go HIS, Sapphire, Gainward etc.
I would stay away from the 9 series geforce to be honest, they are much better than the high end 8 series, not really worth the money now days.
Hope that helps mate, any questions feel free to ask.
Cheers Cakey
